Official says Norilsk water contaminants level returns to norm

MOSCOW, Aug 27 (PRIME) -- Concentration of contaminants in the rivers in Norilsk has returned to the norm after a May accident, an official of the emergency services told PRIME on Thursday.

"Recent surveys show that no excess of the maximum permissible concentrations of petroleum products before the first border of the booms and at the mouth of the Ambarnaya river was recorded," the official said.

A fuel tank at Norilsk-Taimyr Energy Company, part of Norilsk Nickel group, lost pressure on May 29 and leaked 21,000 tonnes of fuel and lubricants into the river Ambarnaya, causing a fire.
